Ecco un nuovo, brevissimo, tutorial fotografico. Durante le feste non ci siamo occupati solo di rock ma anche di sport o, quantomeno, di un ritratto legato allo sport.
Il nostro carissimo amico belga Clement ha posato per noi in località Rocchetta alle 11 di sera nella sua tenuta d’allenamento, infatti, oltre ad essere un dottore é anche un giocatore di rugby.
L’idea era di creare un’immagine abbastanza drammatica ed intensa. Ancora una volta l’impostazione della luce diventa fondamentale. Volevamo uno sfondo totalmente nero, molto contrasto e “mood”. Per semplificare al massimo le cose abbiamo scelto di fotografare di notte, all’aperto utilizzando un’unica fonte di luce: una torcia tipo A collegata al nostro fidatissimo Ranger Quadra ed un softbox 60×60 Lastolite Ezybox.
Il softbox é posizionato a circa 1mt sopra la testa di Clem ed inclinato quasi perpendicolarmente verso il terreno. Utilizzando la luce pilota della torcia ci siamo assicurati che il flash riuscisse ad illuminare lievemente anche la parte sinistra del pallone e del corpo del nostro giocatore.
Il bagliore é assolutamente voluto, quasi a simulare le luci di un campo aggiungendo un ulteriore tocco di drammaticità alla scena.
In post produzione ci siamo limitati a ritoccare il bilanciamento del colore, contrasto e saturazione. Lo sfondo “pitch black” e la qualità della luce emessa dal Quadra ci hanno permesso di partire da un file RAW quasi perfetto senza richiedere grande ritocco o manipolazione.

Here we go with a quick and easy photo tutorial. During our holidays we haven’t dealt only with some good rock but also with sports or, at least, a sports portrait. Our good friend from Belgium, Clement, posed for us in Rocchetta at 11 PM in his training outfit, in fact besides being a doctor he’s also a Rugby player.
The idea was to create a bit f a dramatic and intense atmosphere.
Once again the setup of the light was fundamental. We wanted a black background, very contrasty and moody. To make things easier we decided to shoot at night, outdoors using one light source: an A torch plugged into our beloved Ranger Quadra and a Latolite Ezybox 60×60.
The softbox was about 1mt above Clem’s head inclined almost perpendicularly to the ground. Using the pilot light we made sure the flash would lighten up a bit also the left side of the ball and the body of our player.
The light in the back simulates the lights of the field giving a greater dramatic look to the scene.
In post production we only needed to play with the color balance, contrast and saturation. The pitch black background and the quality of light produced by the Quadra gave us an almost perfect RAW file.
